The Bahn Mi has truly cracked the code of a perfect symphony of textures and flavors in a sandwich, with different sensations hitting notes at different times and harmonizing perfectly. From the crunch of the bubbly baguette to the soft dough inside, the charred and chewy grilled meats and pates working hand-in-hand with the vinegary crunch of vegetables and fish sauce - it’s a masterpiece. While many in the city are familiar with Hanco’s and Henry’s, the best one I’ve found hails from Ba Xuyen down in Sunset Park. Serving as Brooklyn’s de facto Asian nexus, Sunset Park is home to incredible restaurants - ranging from massive dim sum halls to more basic storefronts, like Ba Xuyen. Grab either the traditional or the grilled pork and plant yourself at the top of the hill in Sunset Park for the best Bahn Mi of your life with sweeping skyline views to boot, all for under $7.
